Czarek delighted with competition win
20 Jan 2010Czarek Iskra of Poland was the lucky winner of our exclusive competition to win a Li-Ning t-shirt signed by Yelena.
Czarek correctly answered 2003 to the question – In what year did Yelena Isinbaeva first become the world record holder for the women’s pole vault?
He received his prize over the Christmas holidays and is pictured with it here.
It’s already become one of his most treasured possessions.
Czarek is also a keen athlete and had a special photograph taken with his athletics team, who were all overjoyed at his success.
He said: “We train in athletics too and all love Yelena. Everyone wanted to be on the photo.
“We are all hoping that maybe someday we will see Yelena live, perhaps at an event like the Pedro’s Cup we have here in Poland – that would be fantastic.”
Interestingly, Yelena has competed in Poland several times, including at the World Youth Championships and at the European Under-23 Championships, both in Bydgoszcz, where the Pedro’s Cup is also staged.
